Exetel Communications (Pvt) Ltd operates from offices in the World trade Centre in Colombo 1 which has initially been set up to house 90 people per shift. The Sri Lankan company now provides first and second level support to Exetel Australia's 125,000 plus customers and will also provide high level programming services for the completion and ongoing development of Exetel's highly sophisticated operational and management software which Exetel plans to sell commercially from 2011 as a major part of its revenue streams.
We have been providing all Level 1 and Level 2 support services for Exetel Australia's customers from the end of December 2008 using a staff of 16 degree qualified engineers and a further four degree qualified programmers to provide analysis and programming services to Exetel in Australia. We now have more than 70 degree qualified personnel in the Colombo offices.
All provisioning services have been provided from the Sri Lankan office since June 2009 and all billing and account queries have been provided from Sri Lanka from September 2009.
Exetel is also providing 8 full scholarships to selected students of Sri Lanka's leading IT university and has from 2010, provide funding for a PhD program at the same university to progress the use of Artificial Intelligence in commercial data bases.
